- A universal call of action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 aimed for the peace and prosperity of people.

- Adopted by UN in 2015.

 3Cs (COVID-19, Climate Change and Conflict) are negatively affected the SDG goals.
-  About 1 in 10 people are suffering from hunger in the world.
- Immunization coverage reduced for the first time in 10 years.
-  Rise in the death from Tuberculosis and Malaria.
- 17 metric tons of plastic entered in the ocean.
- Number of Internet users surged to 782 million from 4.9 billion in 2021.
- Projected economic growth for 2022 was reduced by 0.9 % due to the pandemic. 

What is the rank of India in SDG report 2022?

       - 121/ out of 163 countries.

What are the major challenges faced by India in SDG?
 
-  More challenging goal is  SDG 8 (ensuring decent work).
- India continues to face major challenges in achieving 11 of the 17 SDGs.
India’s performance on SDG 13 ( climate action) has faced lot of challenges and slipped from 2020.
( Decline in performance due to the weak performance of following states:-
Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Punjab, Rajasthan, 
Telangana, Uttar Pradesh).
- India shown a progress in  SDG 2 (ending hunger), SDG 3 (good health and well being) and SDG 6 (clean water and sanitation).
